Ministry of Local Government Tasks Production Officers to Drive Agricultural Transformation

The Ministry of Local Government has directed district production officers to assess the impact of government interventions in agricultural extension services, in line with the country’s socio-economic transformation agenda.

Speaking on behalf of the ministry, Mr. Ben Kumumanya emphasized that production officers play a central role in transforming communities through increased productivity. He noted that their guidance is critical in helping citizens adopt viable commercial agriculture practices and make informed enterprise selections, as outlined under the Parish Development Model.

Kumumanya further urged the officers to take the lead in public engagement, positioning themselves as key government focal persons responsible for guiding agricultural interventions at the community level.

To strengthen coordination and align strategies, the ministry has convened a meeting bringing together district, city, and municipal production officers at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
