The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Expedito Magembe, the founder and reigning Director of Mount Sion Prayer Centre Bukalango has passed on.
His death was confirmed by Pius Male Ssentumbwe, Chancellor of Kampala Archdiocese.
“On behalf of the Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese His Grace Paul Ssemogerere, I regret to announce the demise of Monsignor Expedito Magembe, Mount Sion Prayer Centre Bukalango,” reads the official statement posted on X on Friday morning .
The elderly Catholic charismatic preacher and exorcist on January 24 , through fake news was pronounced dead ,but the Archdiocese came out and dismissed the information .
In December 2023 Msgr Magembe,88 celebrated 50 years of dedicated priestly service during a colorful ceremony at his church where over one hundred Catholic clerics concelebrated the Mass. Earlier before Mass, Msgr. Magembe caused enormous excitement when he arrived at the centre in a chopper which excited guests .
At the same function, where Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja represented President Museveni , the latter said Msgr Magembe’s service was a credible ministry to humanity that deserves celebration in honour of God for the strength, wisdom, knowledge and understanding that surpasses human ability to lead the people of God.
Kampala Archdiocese was by Friday afternoon yet to release burial arrangements for veteran priest who is praised for having founded the Catholic religious institute of the Brides of the lamb, which currently has about 80 professed nuns.
