MTN Uganda has launched the third phase of its flagship Changemakers Initiative, committing UGX 500 million to fund 25 new community projects across the country.
The initiative, implemented through the MTN Foundation, seeks to support innovative, community driven solutions that address pressing social challenges in education, health, water and environment, and economic empowerment.
Speaking at the launch in Kampala, MTN Uganda’s Chief Marketing Officer said the programme underscores the company’s belief that technology and business growth must translate into meaningful community transformation. “Technology is only meaningful when it improves lives,” she noted, reaffirming the Foundation’s mission to connect people to opportunities that foster inclusive development.
Now in its third edition, the Changemakers Initiative continues to build on the impact of its earlier phases, which collectively funded 50 community projects and benefitted more than 160,000 people nationwide. Previous beneficiaries implemented initiatives ranging from digital learning innovations and clean-water solutions to youth skilling and livelihood projects for women.
Applications for the new phase are open to individuals, community-based organisations, and local innovators with sustainable ideas that address key social needs. Interested applicants can submit proposals via MTN Uganda’s website, WhatsApp, or at any MTN Service Centre across the country.
Through this investment, MTN Uganda aims to strengthen the capacity of ordinary Ugandans to become agents of change in their communities, while aligning the initiative with its broader “Ambition 2025” strategy to drive shared value and social impact.
