Mubajje asks govt to ban TikTok in Idd –ul-Fitr message


KAMPALA.The embattled Mufti of Uganda Shaban Mubajje has asked to ban TikTok ,a popular worldwide social media app ,saying it is being used by idle youth to defame others .
He described TikTok as a space where immoral behavior and division are being encouraged which is dangerous . “Let the authorities take action against TikTok users who abuse the platform, just as they did with those misusing Facebook before it is too late,” Sheikh Mubajje said while delivering his Idd-ul-Fitr message at Gaddafi National Mosque on Sunday
Mubajje has personally been a victim of TikTok harassment as Muslim youths demand his resignation for irregularly disposing off Muslim properties and running down Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.
In his four-page written speech, Mufti Mubajje expressed deep gratitude to the Muslim faithful for their humility, patience, and courage in observing the divine act of fasting, as commanded by Almighty Allah in the Holy Koran and taught by Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
“We beseech Almighty Allah to reward all those who fasted during Ramadhan with joy and blessings on the Day of Resurrection,” Mufti Mubajje prayed. He also condemned the ongoing mass killings of Palestinians in Gaza, calling on world leaders to take action and uphold humanity through dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.
Mufti Mubajje reminded Ugandan Muslims that UMSC belongs to all of them and urged unity, reconciliation, and support for its programmes. He warned against unnecessary conflicts that could weaken the organization.
Earlier, Deputy Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa also addressed the congregation, expressing deep concern over the suffering of Palestinians. Hajji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi ,the UMSC secretary general shared key UMSC achievements, including hosting major national functions graced by President Museveni and Vice President Jessica Alupo, participation in international conferences, launching income-generating programs in ten Muslim regions, improving education, health, and imam training, strengthening constitutional governance, ensuring proper leadership selection, and expanding UMSC properties nationwide.
The event was attended by Muslim leaders at all levels. Before departure, the congregants listened to a spiritually uplifting sermon delivered by Sheikh Ismail Lukebelwa, a member of Majlis Al-Ulama.
