Mulago national referral hospital has officially become the first public hospital in Uganda to achieve Integrated Management Systems.
The hospital now meets international standards for quality management, environmental management, and occupational health and safety.
According to the statement issued, March,5, the certification will help boast public confidence in the hospital while Positioning it among health institutions that meet internationally recognized standards.

The hospital held the celebrations to mark ISO certification today with matching of staff while holding banner across city center.
The State Minister of Health and General Duties, Hon. Anifa Kawooya Bangirana officiated the event and challenged staff to have passion for their work noting that this is the start to customer satisfaction and will help maintain the ISO certification. “Mulago will be able to improve accountability, transparency, enhance specialized health care and attract more partnership in Uganda’s healthcare,” she said.
Dr. Byanyima Rosemary executive director noted that the ISO certification will help Mulago document records which saves alot of time and resources. She also said that ISO certification also helps in evidence based reporting for quality management systems.
