The Police have offered Shs50m to any member of the public who has information about the assailants who killed a couple in Entebbe Peninsular on , July 6, 2025.
Both David Baagala Mutaaga , 69 and his wife, Deborah Florence Naizuwa Mutaaga, 62 were
Brutally murder at their residence in Lugonjo, Nakiwogo Cell, Kiwafu Ward, and Division A, Entebbe Municipality.
Addressing a weekly police briefing in Kampala on Monday Police Spokesperson ,Mr Kituuma Rusoke, the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are actively pursuing leads to identify and apprehend the suspect(s) behind the killings.
“On Sunday, July 6, 2025, we registered the murder of Mr. Mutaaga David and his wife, Deborah Florence Mutaaga in Entebbe,” Kituuma stated.
“In collaboration with other security agencies, the police are actively searching for the suspects and gathering evidence.”
The couple had just returned in Uganda from abroad where they had stayed for over two decades.
The crime is currently being treated as a suspected case of aggravated robbery.
Preliminary police investigations reveal that the assailants gained access to the residence under unclear circumstances before brutally killing the couple.
Police said the alert was first raised by a housemaid and a family friend, prompting detectives to secure the scene and transport the bodies to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examination.
As part of the ongoing inquest, police have obtained an audio recording believed to contain the voice of one of the suspects and are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying it.
“We have obtained a recording of the suspect’s voice and urge anyone who recognizes it to come forward and help identify the individual,” Kituuma said.
To encourage public cooperation, the Uganda Police Force has announced a cash reward of Shs 50 million for anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator. “If you have any information that could assist in locating and apprehending the suspect, please call +256-769 675 918,” Kituuma added.
