New Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commander takes office, vows to curb crime.

Assistant Commission of Police(ACP) Emitu Ezekiel has officially assumed office as the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) Commander, taking over from CP Richard Ecega at a handover ceremony held on Tuesday at Central Police Station Kampala.

The function was presided over by Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Mwesigwa Frank, the Director of Operations.

AIGP Mwesigwa commended the outgoing Commander for his dedicated service and exemplary leadership throughout his tenure.

He noted that Kampala Metropolitan Police operates in one of the most sensitive and demanding policing environments in the country, requiring constant vigilance, resilience, and sound judgment.

“I applaude CP Ecega for executing his responsibilities with commitment and professionalism, and I urge you to carry the experience gained into your new office and continue to serve with distinction,” he said.

AIGP Mwesigwa emphasized that command is not merely a change of office, but a transition of responsibility, authority, and accountability.

He urged ACP Emitu to prioritize; Crime prevention through strengthened inter-agency collaboration,

Firmness, restraint, and professionalism in operations.

“Enhanced discipline, supervision, and operational accountability, Strong partnerships with the community, emphasizing that public trust is a strategic asset,” he said.

He called upon the new Commander to perform his duties diligently and professionally, guided by discipline and an unwavering commitment to public service. ENDS
