The National Resident Movement [NRM] party district LCV and mayor primaries have suffered low turnout in Mukono District .
There have been few voters since morning at several polling centres, including Mukono town, Namawojjolo, Lwanyonyi and others.
Dowozi Mukasa, the NRM village Mobiliser in Lwanyonyi village, attributed the low turnout to the previous chaos , military interference and bribery that married the parliamentary internal polls last Thursday .
“People turned up last time, and things didn’t go well as expected, so they have decided to focus on their businesses,” he said

At Lwanyonyi polling centre in Mukono North constituency, fewer than 50 voters turned out to vote, and at the Community centre in Mukono Municipality, fewer than 10 voters turned out, whereby the former district chairperson Francis Lukooya Mukooye won with six votes.
However, the low turnout was also blamed on the District NRM chairperson, Hajj. Haruna Ssemakula, who reportedly misled the electorate that only one candidate was in the race .
“ I spoke to all three candidates last night, and the two agreed to leave for only one person in the race for the LCV chairperson seat, noting that Jimmy Lugoolobi and Yusuf Awuye had withdrawn from the race, leaving it for Francis Lukooya Mukoome. He said voters had to elect only district councillors.
Stephen Nakabaale, the registrar of Mukono District, refuted Hajj Ssemakula’s claims and confirmed that the elections are ongoing, with all three candidates in the race. The other district councillors in the race are Erisa Ssebbale and Gashegu Mulamira.
