However , the EC upheld elections in parishes of Meeru ,Kanoni ,Nyabitanga and Rwemibu –all in Lwemiyaga Constituency .

“ The Commission doesn’t find any merit and /or evidence to overturn the declared results in Meeru Parish ,Kanoni Parish ,Nyabitanga Parish and Rwemibu Parish ,all in Lwemiyaga Constituency .As such, the results stand as declared ,” Mr Omarch ruled .

He also revealed that the Commission had also commenced investigations against the registrar complained against and shall make its decision known once the investigations are complete .
“The Commission urges all the contestants and all the leaders in the constituencies to cooperate with security personnel to conclude he elections peacefully ,” he said

NRM internal elections in Sembabule have been tense ever since the exercise started on May 6 .Supporters of rival camps have been fighting each at polling stations mainly in Mawogola East and Lwemiyaga constituencies where incumbent legislators Anifa Kawooya and Theodore Ssekikubo are fighting hard to retain their positions in next year’s general elections .

Ms Kawooya is facing stiff competition from Mr Wilberforce Begumisa ,a businessman and tour operator while Ssekikubo is facing off with retired Brig Emmanuel Rwashande .

In the two constituencies , the winner in NRM parliamentary polls usually becomes the winner in the general elections . So, contenders are battling to win influence over NRM lower structures ahead of the party’s July parliamentary primaries .

Others eying Lwemiyaga County parliamentary seat include; Ms Joy Kabatsi ,the former state minister for Transport , John Patrick Kateeba ,a certified financial analyst , Edmond Bwire Nuwagaba, the chief executive director N+B Global Logistics , Geofrey Tumusiime Ndengana, Migadde Juugu Amooti and Kato Jacob Mwesigye- all ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) -leaning aspirants .There is also Dr Asaph Tumwebaze who will stand as an independent.
