LUWEERO.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has postponed the district and city-level party structure elections in Luweero, Nakaseke, and Nakasongola to Tuesday, May 27, 2025.
The postponement is intended to make way for President Museveni’s ongoing mobilisation tour for the Parish Development Model (PDM) in the same districts.
A circular dated May 20, 2025, and signed by NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson Mr Tanga Odoi, said he had already informed district election officers in the affected areas of the change. Originally, the elections were scheduled for May 23, 2025, in line with NRM electoral roadmap .
“Following His Excellency the President’s scheduled visit to Luweero, Nakasongola, and Nakaseke Districts, the Commission has extended the district-level party structure elections to Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Please adjust accordingly,” the circular reads in part.
Mr Emmanuel Dombo, NRM’s Director for Communication and Mobilization, said the change falls within the allowed election time frame and will not disrupt the party’s calendar.
He emphasized the importance of the President’s visit and encouraged residents to welcome him as he assesses the progress of PDM projects in their communities.

“The Presidential mobilization tour, which began on May 20 and concludes on May 22, is a key part of the government’s efforts to monitor and support the implementation of the PDM. We urge our people to take note of the new election date,” Dombo told Monitor on May 20.
During the tour which kicked off Tuesday with President Museveni visiting PDM beneficiaries in Luweero and Nakaseke ,he is also expected to meet other PDM beneficiaries in Nakasongola before crossing to other parts of Buganda Region.
Today May 21, Museveni is expected to address the media and later meet local leaders at Timna Primary School in Luweero District. He will then hold a public rally at Wabinyonyi Playground in Nakasongola on Thursday, May 22.
