NUP deputy spokesperson Mufumbiro abducted at Kawempe Magistrates Court


KAMPALA. The Opposition National Unity Platform( NUP) deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro has been abducted and his whereabouts remain unknown.
According to a statement posted on NUP official handle X (formerly Twitter) , Mufumbiro was abducted by armed gunmen Monday noon at Kawempe Chief Magistrates Court where he had gone to attend a court session for party members who currently in incarnation over alleged participation in a military-like parade at NUP headquarters in February this year .


Just a few minutes back at the Kawempe Magistrates Court , our deputy spokesperson Alex Waiswa Mufumbiro has been abducted by armed gunmen traveling in a Toyota Noah registration Number UAK368K .He was attending the court for our comrades Eddie Mutwe, Achileo Kivumbi and Tasi Calvin (Bobi Giant ) .This impunity continues !, the statement reads in part


In the past five years security agencies have intensified a crackdown on NUP supporters linking them to cases of wearing military-like uniforms and many have remained in prison without trial,which has attracted wide condemnation from both local and international human rights activists .
