KAMPALA.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) has been thrown in disarray after State operative swung into action and abducted another civilian bodyguard for party president Robert Kyagulanyi.
After learning about this unfortunate incident ,Mr Kyagulanyi better known as Bobi Wine, Thursday evening rushed to his X (Twitter) handle and posted that one of his bodyguards had been “violently abducted” and whisked away to an unknown destination, adding to the growing list of his security detail and supporters picked up by state operatives.
He identified the missing bodyguard as Noah Mutwe who was reportedly picked from Gombe, Wakiso District by individuals driving in a double-cabin truck.
“They came like thugs, travelling in a numberless double-cabin vehicle. They first picked Noah Mutwe’s uncle and put him on handcuffs before ordering him to take them to comrade Noah Mutwe’s home in Gombe. They violently abducted him and took him away.
His whereabouts are not known. They’re committing all these crimes against our people to instill fear in us and the entire population. But they’re giving us more reason to fight for a better country,” Mr Kyagulanyi posted on X (formerly Twitter).’
Mr Noah Mutwe’s reported abduction comes days after Mr Kyagulanyi’s chief bodyguard, Edward Ssebuufu, better known as Eddie Mutwe, was picked by State operatives attached to the elite Special Forces Command(SFC) which guards President Museveni and held for eight days before he was arraigned in court in Masaka City, limping.
Mr Ssebuufu’s whereabouts were unknown for days until President Museveni’s son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who serves as the Chief of Defence (CDF), posted on X saying he was holding him in his basement and subjecting him to torture.
Mr Kyagulanyi’s Thursday post came barely two hours after Gen Muhoozi vowed to arrest him (Kyagulanyi).
“We arrested KB (veteran opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye), then Eddie Mutwe, now I am promising you Kabobi (Bobi Wine). You still think these are jokes? I haven’t started!” said Gen Muhoozi, known for his erratic posts on social media.
Last May, Anthony Agaba alias Bobi Young—then a permanent fixture in Bobi Wine’s security detail—was also arrested. He remains incarcerated after being charged by the GCM, the military tribunal that the Supreme Court red-flagged earlier this year.
In a series of posts on Thursday, Gen Muhoozi said he was proud that Eddie Mutwe was “beaten to pulp” while in his basement.
“Did I beat Eddie enough? Those who agree retweet. Those who disagree like. I’m very proud that our great army beat Eddie Mutwe to a pulp! And we are going to beat many more,” posted Gen Muhoozi before warning that “If ANYBODY in NUP even dreams of starting a riot in Kampala, I promise to KILL him or her. That’s a promise!”
He also took a swipe at former army commander, retired Major-General Mugisha Muntu who recently posted on X, calling on Mr Museveni, who has been in power for nearly four decades, to call his son to order since he’s the commander-in-chief.
“You were always a COWARD and a BUFFOON Greg! The biggest mistake we ever committed is to appoint you army commander!” Gen Muhoozi posted before adding, “There is a small insect that always cries to my father. He failed in every measurement of being a man or a soldier. The biggest COWARD in UPDF! Greg, I dare you to a duel! I have a pistol for you and me,”
