Eight black pigs bearing inscriptions including “DP bleeds” were dumped at the Democratic Party headquarters in Kampala on Tuesday morning .
It is not yet clear the motive of the mysterious individuals who dropped the pigs ,but what is clear is that the act was a veiled political protest of the party leadership headed by Norbert Mao ,also a minister for constitutional affairs in the ruling government .
The pigs, each marked with different inscriptions, were left at the party premises in what appears to be a symbolic and provocative act.
The shocking incident left staff at the offices of Uganda’s oldest political party shocked , and many are questioning whether it stems from internal disputes within the party or pressure from rival political forces.
Police have not yet commented on the matter, and no group has claimed responsibility .DP , which in June held its national delegates conference in Mbarara is suffering internal divisions after a section of supporters and stalwarts accused Mao of having influenced the electoral process to retain the top party office .
Although Mao has extended an olive branch to disgruntled DP members to and return home and resolve their issues internally ,many have refused ,saying he has no vision for the party . Some MPs who stood on DP ticket in 2021 General Elections have since joined the National Unity Platform while others are now members of Peoples Front for Freedom .
