Mama Tendo Foundation, in partnership with Housing Finance Bank and other stakeholders has officially launched the Mama Tendo National Parenting Symposium and a new children’s book series aimed at transforming how Uganda approach raising the next generation.
The highly anticipated symposium is scheduled for July 31, 2025, at Kololo Independence Grounds, under the theme “Parental Involvement, Sex Education, and Children’s Wellbeing.”
The event seeks to encourage Ugandans to adopt a more deliberate and united approach to parenting, recognizing it as a crucial pillar of national development.
Catherine Ruhweza, CEO of Mama Tendo Foundation, described the initiative as a movement to elevate parenting into the national agenda.
“This is the beginning of a great parenting initiative, parenting is a national responsibility that brings everyone together to ensure the success of this initiative,” said Ruhweza.
A significant highlight of the symposium will be the launch of five new children’s books targeting ages 2 to 19, designed to help parents navigate complex conversations and strengthen relationships with their children.
“The symposium is designed to influence the development of our country because families are the key factor and the pillar for economic, social, and political growth,” added Ruhweza.
Housing Finance Bank, a strategic partner in this endeavor, underscored its commitment not just through sponsorship but by actively contributing to the symposium’s program.
The bank will conduct tailored financial literacy sessions for parents and caregivers, offering practical strategies for saving for children’s education, healthcare, and future opportunities, as well as planning for long-term financial security.
Doreen Nyiramugisha, Head of Marketing and Communication at Housing Finance Bank, emphasized the importance of supporting families for national progress.
“At Housing Finance Bank, we believe that parenting is the foundation of society. Conversations around parental involvement, sex education, and wellbeing are critical. By partnering with Mama Tendo Foundation, we are investing in a healthier, more informed, and more resilient generation,” Nyiramugisha said.
