Pilgrims reach Muzdalifah as Muslims mark Eid-ul-Adhuha Day

SAUDI ARABIA.

Millions of Muslim pilgrims currently participating in the Hajj rituals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have safely arrived in Muzdalifah Friday after commemorating one of the most significant rites of the pilgrimage at the plains of Mount Arafat. They were transported in hundreds of thousands of buses under tight coordination and security.

By Thursday evening, June 5, 2025, the majority had settled at Muzdalifah, a sacred site where pilgrims spend the night in the open. Each pilgrim collects seven pebbles here, which will later be used in the symbolic stoning of the three pillars representing Satan in the ritual of Ramy al-Jamarat.

This act re-enacts the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who threw stones at Satan when he tried to dissuade him from obeying God’s command to sacrifice his son, Ismail.

Pilgrims were seen performing shortened evening prayers and preparing to rest under the open sky—exposed to nothing but the stars and moon—on bare ground, in a powerful display of humility and submission.

In Uganda , hundreds of faithful are still pouring into various mosques to perform Eid-ul-Adhuha prayers . At some mosques and open arenas , prayers kicked off as early as 7am while at some places like Kibuli Mosque and Gadaffi National Mosque,Old Kampala Idd prayers started at 10am and 9am respectively .

After prayers the believers will take part in slaughtering animals to commemorate the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) in the Koran , who was willing to sacrifice his son Ismail, but God replaced Ismail with a ram.

The meat will then be shared with family, friends, and the needy, emphasizing the festival’s focus on charity and giving.
