Police in Kampala Metropolitan area have confirmed the arrest of a man who is suspected of having killed a money leader on Wednesday in Namuyenje ,Mukono District.
The suspect aged 26, is being held at Mukono Police Station on murder charges of Hamidah Nalule Mutesi, 35, a businesswoman.
The Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, said the suspect and deceased had a financial dispute of over Shs 18 million, with the suspect allegedly mortgaging his house.
“On June 4, 2025, they drove together in the deceased’s car, a white Toyota Fielder (UBR 759V), to the chairman’s place to resolve the issue but didn’t meet him. Later, while driving along Namuyenje Road, they branched off onto a side road, where the suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased in the throat with a knife,” Onyango said.
According to the eyewitnesses, the deceased was found lying in a pool of blood, dressed in a black trouser and flowered top just a few meters from her car.
She suffered multiple injuries on her left arm.
The National Identification Card of the suspect was found inside Mutesi ‘s car, with blood stains on the driver’s and co-drivers seats.
Police recovered the suspected killer knife, and the deceased’s body has been taken to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examination
