Police officer who assaulted female attendant at Shell Kyanja, arrested

KAMPALA: Police in Kampala are holding one of their own Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Clive Nsiima for assaulting a female attendant at Shell filling station in Kyanja , a Kampala suburb .
In a video footage which went viral on social media platforms , Nsiima was captured him slapping a female supermarket attendant during a heated verbal exchange over an unpaid bill of about Shs 30,000 .
The video further shows Nsiima, dressed in civilian clothes, berating a female cashier before striking her twice across the face.


“I am parking; have you ever driven such a car?” he is heard saying in the video before adding, “She’s there disturbing me over Shs 30,000. Do you think I can run away with Shs 100,000? I can slap you even with these cameras here and tomorrow we go to court.” He bragged


On Wednesday morning ,Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma said Nsiima was already in their custody for tarnishing the image of the Police Force “I hereby confirm he has been arrested.”he said .
Police sources say Nsiima who is in his 30s is attached to the Counter Terrorism Directorate under the Oil and Gas Protection Unit. He was arrested following a joint operation by officers from Kyanja Police Post and the Professional Standards Unit (PSU).


Nsiima is expected to face charges of assault and threatening violence under Sections 235 and 236 of the Penal Code Act, which carry penalties of up to five years in prison.
A police extract seen by this publication lists the case under reference 08/07/10/25 at Kyanja Police Post.
The victim has since filed a formal complaint and is receiving counseling and medical assistance and her colleagues have also recorded statements .
