KAMPALA
In a momentous rallying cry sweeping across Uganda’s political landscape, National Resistance Movement (NRM) delegates and grassroots leaders have thrown their weight behind Rt. Hon. Speaker Anita Annet Among for the position of 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female) on the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC). With a campaign defined by energy, clarity of purpose, and unshakable dedication, Speaker Among has emerged not just as a candidate—but as a transformative force for the party’s future.
Her track record speaks volumes. As Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Among has brought renewed dynamism to legislative leadership, while forging a close and respectful relationship with the Head of State—a bond rooted in mutual trust and a shared vision for national development. This Executive-Legislature harmony has been critical in fostering political stability and ensuring the NRM delivers on its promises to the Ugandan people.
At the grassroots level, Anita Among has proven to be a mobilization powerhouse. Her ability to galvanize support and inspire action has reinvigorated party structures, empowering local leaders and reinserting long-ignored regions like Busoga into the national political conversation. Delegates from across Busoga, including Kamuli, have unanimously pledged support for her, citing her inclusive leadership and willingness to challenge the status quo that has sidelined the region for too long.
“Leadership isn’t about how long you’ve been in the party—it’s about impact,” one district chairperson remarked. “Rt. Hon. Anita has done more in a short time than many have in decades.”
Indeed, despite being viewed by some as a newcomer, her meteoric rise and results-driven leadership have silenced critics. Her campaign dismisses detractors as political relics clinging to titles without delivering results. “That kind of insecurity can only come from a wounded antelope in its final sprint,” one supporter quipped.

Beyond politics, Anita Among has stood firmly for Uganda’s moral and cultural values. In the face of international scrutiny and recent US sanctions, she has refused to bow to foreign pressure, choosing instead to defend Uganda’s sovereignty and the democratic will of its people. Her bold stance on controversial issues, including her opposition to homosexuality, has earned her both admiration and criticism—but her supporters see this as a badge of honor.
“When history writes the story of courage, it will speak of leaders who refused to compromise their nation’s values,” reads one rallying message from her supporters.
In her own words during a visit to Busoga, Anita said, “I have seen all the insults but for me I was brought up in a very good way, I don’t attack elders, I respect Hon. Kadaga.”
As the NRM prepares for its internal elections, the addition of Rt. Hon. Anita Among the CEC promises a new era of strategic leadership, loyalty, and inclusiveness. She brings to the table not only political insight and relentless drive, but also a clear commitment to women’s empowerment, national unity, and preserving Uganda’s cultural fabric.
In a party ready for renewal and impact, Anita Among is not just running—she’s redefining what it means to lead.
