Safeguard legacies of late parents-Mufti Mubajje tells Children

KAMPALA.His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, the Mufti of Uganda, has urged Muslim faithful to honor and diligently safeguard the rich legacies left behind by their departed parents.

This fatherly advice was delivered on his behalf by Sheikh Muhammad Murshid Luwemba, UMSC Secretary for Dawah (Islamic propagation), during the memorial prayers for the late Sheikh Anas Ssesimba, a prominent figure in the Muslim community.

The function was held at the late Sheikh Ssesimba’s residence in Lugala, a suburb of Lubaga Division, Kampala, on Sunday, November 2, 2025.

Sheikh Luwemba commended the Ssesimba family for honoring the legacy of their family head by organizing the memorial prayers, describing such acts as enduring gifts from a Muslim believer. “These supplications beseech Almighty Allah to bless the departed soul of our beloved ones,” he said.

“Sheikh Ssesimba was one of the founders of UMSC back in 1972 and served as Secretary for Religious Ceremonies. He dedicated his entire life to service in various positions without compromise until his passing a year ago,” Sheikh Luwemba remarked.

He further praised the late Sheikh Ssesimba as a pious, brave, and generous leader who always prioritized Muslim unity under UMSC. He urged the children and congregants to emulate him, live righteous lives, and support the growth and prosperity of Islam in their communities, just as their parents had done.

Sheikh Luwemba referenced several verses from the Holy Koran and sayings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to reinforce his message.

Prior to Sheikh Luwemba’s address, Sheikh Mahmood Bakaki and the youthful Sheikh Kasumba delivered soul-stirring remarks, interweaving recitations from the Holy Quran and prophetic sayings.

They emphasized the importance of striving to do God’s will and living harmoniously with fellow human beings. “Attending such functions is a reminder that life is transient and we will soon return to our Creator,” preached Sheikh Kasumba.

Sheikh Bakaki added, “When a person leaves this earthly life, the soul realizes the true purpose of worship. Supplications offered by loved ones help the departed in the hereafter, so always pray for your family and others, and they will reciprocate on your behalf after your passing.”

Among those in attendance was Sheikh Abu-Wahid Rashid Nkalumbo, one of the Imams at the National Mosque, alongside other community members.

The late Sheikh Anas Ssesimba passed away on October 30, 2024, at the age of 80, leaving behind widows, grown-up children, and grandchildren.
