Police in Mpigi are investigating circumstances under which a twelve -year- old boy died at school on Thursday morning .
Gracious Bachwa was a former Primary Four pupil at Abato Junior School in Mpigi Town Council .
It is said that Bachwa, committed suicide after seeking for permission from his class teacher to go for short call as his colleagues remained in class studying at around 10am .
Mr Ronald Musoke, a teacher who was in class teaching at the time of the incident says they became suspicious after Bachwa delayed returning to class.
He says that they started searching for the boy and they were shocked to find him in one of the rooms of a building under construction in the neighbouring secondary school .
Ms Marry Harriet Nanjala ,a matron at Abato Junior ,said Bachwa didn’t report any personal problems or illness.
“We were shocked to receive information that he was found in a room with a rope around his neck, which he reportedly used to kill himself over unknown reasons” she said .
Bachwa ‘s mother Ms Cissy Namuyomba, who is a resident of Busunju Town council in Mityana District could not believe the sudden death of her son and asked police to thoroughly investigate the matter and come up with a report .
“I don’t believe that he killed himself, there are a lot of unanswered questions surrounding the death of my child. We need an investigation into her death, so that we can get justice for our fallen child” she said
Mr Faridah Ndagire Ssempala , one of the area councilors, took a swipe at the school administration for beating up a Bukedde TV correspondent Joseph Kinobe who went to the school to cover the incident . “He[journalist ] went to the school to do his work and beating him was uncalled for ,”
Katonga Regional police spokesperson Ms Lydia Tumushabe, said they have so far arrested two people including the matron and security guard to help them with investigations.
She however, also condemned the attack on the journalist who had gone to cover the incident at the school .
“Police are investigating circumstances under which the minor is said to have hanged himself; the body has been taken for postmortem” she said .
