Police in Jinja are investigating the death of a 15-year-old Primary Five pupil who reportedly succumbed to injuries after fight with a classmate .
The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon .
The deceased, identified as Collin Byaguba, aged 15, was the son of Mr Waiswa Mutagaya, a resident of Namuvundu Village in Butagaya Sub-county.
Authorities say the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the two pupils, though the exact cause is yet to be established.
According to James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police spokesperson, the altercation occurred in the presence of other pupils who did not intervene or alert teachers.
“Collin sustained fatal injuries during the fight and was pronounced dead shortly after,” Mubi said.

Mubi described the incident as “a sad and avoidable tragedy” and urged schools to strengthen guidance and counselling programmes for learners.
He also called for the creation of safe and confidential reporting systems to enable pupils to report conflicts or safety concerns before they escalate.
He further cautioned teachers, especially in lower schools, against leaving pupils unattended to during lessons.
“Class teachers should always appoint a responsible pupil to monitor the class or leave clear safety instructions when stepping out,” he advised.
