MITYANA. Grief has engulfed residents of Kanjuki Village in Zigoti Town Council, Mityana District after receiving shocking news that one of their own who went missing last Sunday, was killed and body buried in his garden.
According to residents, the deceased Salongo Gadaffi Matovu was last seen on Sunday evening.
It is alleged that Matovu was attacked by yet to be identified assailants on his way back from Zigoti Town on Sunday evening.
Sarah Nakintu ,the widow to the deceased narrates that the husband left their home at 7pm on Sunday to go to the town ,but later she saw his motorcycle parked at home with him not seen anywhere .
“I waited for him into the night, but he did not come back .On Monday, I reported his missing to the LC1 chairperson and later to Zigoti police station. We also announced on the local radio ,but we failed to trace his whereabouts ,” she said
However, on Wednesday morning, Nakintu says one of their sons who gone to one of their gardens saw a mobile phone cover and realized that it was for his father.
“ The boy later saw a palm covered with soil and made an alarm .Later, the residents were alerted and we reported the matter to Zigoti police station ,officers arrived at the scene and were later joined by officers from Mityana police station and retrieved the body, only to realise the it is that of my husband, ” he said
Ms Nakintu links the husband’s murder to a land dispute has been having with some residents in the area .
“ We ask police to investigate this matter thoroughly and bring the culprits to book.
Ms Racheal Kawala , the police spokesperson Wamala region said that they have kicked off investigations this gruesome murder .
