Shock as police exhume two bodies from Mpigi shrine
MPIGI.Police have intensified investigations into a suspected case of human sacrifice after multiple human remains were recovered during an operation in Kamengo ,Mpigi District.
According to the Katonga Regional Police spokesperson Lydia Tumushabe, a search conducted Wednesday morning at around 8:00am in Lunyerere, Kamengo, led to the exhumation of two bodies. In addition, officers recovered more than six skulls and several suspected human bones from the scene.
The remains have been transported to Mulago City Mortuary for forensic examination, including DNA analysis and postmortem evaluations to establish the identities of the victims and the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Police have urged members of the public with missing relatives to come forward and support the ongoing investigations.
Authorities say the operation follows intelligence reports linking the area to possible ritual killings, although the exact motives and perpetrators remain under investigation.
