KAMPALA.
Police in Kampala are investigating a Wednesday shooting incident that left three people dead .
The tragic incident happened at the offices of Ultimate Security Company in Mbuya, a Kampala City suburb.
In a statement on Wednesday , Police identified the deceased as Noella Zella, Assistant Human Resource Officer at Ultimate Security
Bwampata Salez, the company’s Armory Officer
Richard Mwaawa , a security guard and the suspected shooter
According to police preliminary investigations , the incident occurred at approximately 9:00 AM when Mwaawa allegedly entered the company premises and opened fire, killing Zella and Bwampata . Police were alerted about the incident and swiftly responded.
“Responding officers engaged the suspect and fatally wounded him while trying to subdue the threat,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police.
All three bodies have since been conveyed to the City Mortuary Mulago for postmortem examination. The killer gun has also been recovered and is currently undergoing forensic analysis, according to Mr Owoyesigyire
He said the motive behind the attack still unknown.
“This is the reason why our detectives have launched a full investigation into the circumstances leading up to the shooting. We urge members of the public to remain calm and allow the police to carry out a thorough investigation into this unfortunate event,” he said
