Security agencies have successfully rescued a six-year-old boy, Abraham Mpirwe Tumwesigye who has been in hands of kidnappers for eight days .
was allegedly kidnapped on December, 12, 2025 by employed in his household.
Abraham Mpirwe Tumwesigye was reportedly kidnapped by a shamba boy who was working at their home in Ddungu Zone, Kawempe Division, Kampala District.
According to Rachael Kawala, the spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, Tumwesigye was rescued on Friday at around 9:30am in Busukuma, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso District.
“The child has been safely recovered. Our teams worked tirelessly, analyzing every lead, including the suspect’s social media activity. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect and bring him to justice,” she said
She said preliminary investigations revealed that on the day of his disappearance, David Muchunguzi, a shamba boy working for Dr Emmanuel Tumwesigye, left with the victim to an unknown destination and failed to return.
“A case of kidnap was immediately reported at Universal Police Post, prompting swift search operations. Investigators analysed the suspect’s TikTok videos, which provided crucial leads that enabled security agencies to trace and recover the child safely,” Ms Kawala said on Friday.
According to her, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect who remains at large.
She said that the rescued child will undergo a medical examination before being reunited with his parents.
Police records highlight the gravity of child abduction in Uganda.
According to the 2024 Annual Crime Report, a total of 1,597 cases of child abduction/kidnap were registered across the country between 2019 and 2024, underscoring the persistent threat to children’s safety.
