Speaker, Among faces stiff challenges to oust her contenders.

Anita Among is the current speaker facing stiff challenges from his own party National Resistance Movement and members from other parties. Five MPs are all eyeing her seat(Speakership) including the DP party president Nobert Mao. Addressing the media today while announcing his candidature for speakership Mao said that, after the death of Jacob Olaunya then the speaker, they hurriedly to elect the next speaker accidently,”.

Currently Laroo-Pece Division MP-elect and Justice Minister Mao is in good books with NRM party despite standing on Parliamentary DP ticket on the recent conclude election which he won.

Among who is also Bukedea district Woman MP elect during the 2026- 2031, will galvanize on support of some elected and re-elected MPS, who its presumed he helped many of them to join the August house.

During the just concluded presidential and parliamentary elections, Among was deemed to be getting ‘tick “for gal vanishing support for President Museveni countrywide. Although some politicians have come out boldly to show or challenge the current speaker others have decided to rally behind their colleagues in unseat the current speaker.

Among them is the Rebbeca Kadaga the current deputy prime minister (whom Among won during the race for 2nd national vice chairperson of NRM party), It’s believed that Kadaga is still interested in the speakership seat or she might support someone else to edge out Among. Other candidates like Norbert Mao have already come out to show their interests publically in different for a.

The current Deputy Speaker, Thomas Tayebwa, has always laid behind speaker among in order to keep his post of (Deputy speaker). Others are Lydia Wanyoto and Persis Namuganza

The current speaker now faces internal politics where she had strong mobilization skills and defeating most of the party veterans, giving her an edge to others.
