
Bukedea District | May 13, 2025 – Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has been elected unopposed as the Chairperson of the Women’s League in Apopong Parish, Kolir Sub County, located in her home district of Bukedea.
Her unchallenged election took place during the ongoing National Resistance Movement (NRM) parish-level structure elections being conducted across the country.
In a statement following her election, Speaker Among expressed deep gratitude to NRM members for their overwhelming show of support.
“I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the NRM membership for trusting me unopposed as the Chairperson of the Women’s League in Apopong Parish,” she said. “I am truly humbled by their confidence in me, and I look forward to serving my party and our community with utmost commitment and dedication.”
The NRM’s grassroots elections aim to strengthen the party’s structures from the parish level upwards and engage members in leadership and mobilization at the community level.
Speaker Among, a prominent figure in the ruling party and national politics, has consistently maintained close ties with her constituency and remains actively involved in local development and political activities.
