MASAKA .
Police in Masaka are holding three people-all relatives for their alleged involvement in the brutal murder of a 35- year -old man.
The deceased Deogratious Ssemujju was a resident of Kamwozi Village in Buwunga Sub county in Masaka District.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that Nasaka Maria ,a wife to the deceased, John Mwanje a brother to deceased, Mellisa Nakawesi and others that are still on the ran attacked and beat Ssemujju to death before hanging his body on the tree.
According to residents , the suspects have been staying with Ssemujju but they have always had a longstanding conflict over unknown reasons.
The body was found on a tree hanging with a mosquitoe wrapped around his neck .The body had bruises and it is suspected that he sustained them during the fracas while trying to fight back
Mwanje reportedly called police to inform them that their relative [Ssemujju] had reportedly committed suicide.
Southern regional police spokesperson, Mr Twaha Kasirye confirmed the trio’s arrest saying they are going to help police with investigations
“We have managed recover the body from the garden where it was hanged and taken to hospital for postmortem”. He added
The police are also investigating claims that the deceased was not a relative to the suspects which would have prompted them to take the law into their own hands and beat him to death.
