Police in Nagalama ,Mukono District Wednesday morning pursued suspected cattle thieves at Nakasajja Trading Centre and successfully rescued three head of cattle .
The stolen cows were being transported in a white Toyota Prado TX, registration number UAZ 797G.,according to Mr Luke Owoyesigyire , the deputy police spokesperson Kampala Metropolitan area .
“On 14th May 2025, at around 3:00 AM, officers from Nagalama Police Station, while on routine patrol at Kalagi Trading Centre along Gayaza Road, noticed a Prado TX moving suspiciously. When signaled to stop, the vehicle instead sped off. A pursuit ensued, and the vehicle was intercepted at Nakasajja Trading Centre,” he posted on his X (Twitter ) handle.

During the operation, Mr Owoyesigyire said some suspects fled while two others sustained injuries and were pronounced dead en route to the hospital.
“Efforts are currently underway to identify the origins of the recovered cattle and to ascertain the identities of the suspects who fled the scene. The bodies of the deceased suspects remain unidentified and are currently at the City Mortuary pending postmortem examination,” he added
In recent months, multiple reports have documented cases of cattle theft in Uganda, with authorities taking action to recover stolen animals and apprehend perpetrators. These cases include the recovery of large numbers of stolen cattle, the arrest of multiple suspects, and ongoing efforts to address the issue.
