ARUA/LIRA. The Police have arrested two ruling National Resistance Movement election officials in the district of Arua and Lira City for violating the revised party election guidelines .
Those arrested include; the NRM Registrar for Arua and party parish supervisor for Acwao Ward in Lira City East Division .
The arrest for the registrar followed allegations of misconduct related to the issuance of DR forms to a particular candidate before the official designated time.
This action contravenes the directives issued by the District Security Committee, which had previously agreed on specific procedures and timelines.

According to police reports, the Registrar issued these forms in violation of the security committee’s directives, prompting the RDC and his team to order the arrest of the individual on suspicion of corruption and misconduct concerning the register.
This was confirmed by SP Asea Collins PRO for West Nile, describing it as unfortunate that some leaders engage in such questionable activities.
“The police are currently conducting thorough investigations into the matter and will keep the public informed of any new developments as they arise,” he said.
SP Asea reiterated their commitment to upholding integrity and transparency in all electoral processes and urge all stakeholders to cooperate with law enforcement during this inquiry.
Mr Lawrence Egole, the Resident City Commissioner of Lira, has confirmed the NRM parish supervisor of Acwao Ward in Lira City East Division, Dray Okello, was this morning apprehended after he was allegedly found in possession of 95 posters and 71 appointment letters of one of the aspiring candidates for mayoral flag.

In this principal trade centre of Lango Sub-region, Mr Sam Atul, the incumbent mayor, is battling for the flag with Mr Henry Opio Ogenyi.
Ever since internal elections in NRM started in May ,they have been marred by widespread irregularities and in some districts lives have been lost following clashes from opposing camps .
