“The UCC remains committed to protecting the public from harmful or offensive content and ensuring that broadcasters operate in compliance with the law and professional standards,”

Salt TV located in Mengo , Kampala suburb is owned by Pastor Aloysius Bugingo of the House of Prayer Ministries International ,also known as Canaan land.
The crackdown on the programme on Bugingo’s TV comes a day after UCC issued a separate public notice urging all broadcasters to maintain accuracy, balance, and objectivity under the Uganda Communications Act, 2013, and the 2019 Content Regulations.

The regulator said it had observed an increase in media practitioners simultaneously hosting programmes while campaigning for political office, and received complaints of some broadcasters denying airtime to candidates based on political affiliation.

“The purpose of this notice is to remind all broadcasters of their obligation to be impartial and non-partisan,” UCC said, adding that stations should require presenters seeking elective office to take leave from their programs to avoid conflicts of interest.
