Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) has temporarily halted all commuter and passenger train services along the Kampala–Mukono route following a track embankment failure at Namanve.

In a statement released on Sunday, URC confirmed that the incident had caused significant damage to the railway line, leading to a full suspension of services from April 6 to April 14, 2025.

“The disruption affects all commuter and passenger train services on this route,” the statement read. URC added that its technical teams have been deployed to the site and are working diligently to assess the situation and conduct necessary repairs.

The corporation reassured passengers that it is prioritizing safety and is committed to restoring normal services by the set date of April 14.

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused and ask for the public’s understanding and patience as we work to resolve this issue,” URC said in its statement.
