Uganda Real Estate & Housing Expo Set for Sept 26–28 to Spotlight Affordable, Resilient Homes

Uganda will later this month host the first Uganda Real Estate & Housing Expo (UREHE 2025), a three-day event expected to draw hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors as the country grapples with a deepening housing deficit.

The expo is scheduled for September 26–28 at Kati Kati Grounds, Lugogo, and is being organized by the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urban Development in partnership with Douglas Events Ltd and other sector players.

Under the theme “Resilient by Design, Affordable by Intent: Shaping the Future of Real Estate,” the event will provide a platform for government, developers, financiers, and consumers to exchange ideas on how to make housing more accessible and sustainable.

Uganda currently faces a shortage of about 2.4 million housing units, most affecting low-income households. With the country’s urban population growing at an annual rate of 5.2%, demand for affordable and durable homes is rising quickly.

Organizers say the expo will bring together more than 300 exhibitors and attract at least 5,000 visitors from across East Africa. Participants will showcase affordable housing models, sustainable building technologies, innovative financing tools, and planning frameworks designed to ease costs and improve resilience.

Officials from the Housing Directorate emphasized that the expo will also highlight legal and regulatory reforms, including the Condominium Property Act, the amended Physical Planning Act, and energy efficiency standards, all aimed at shaping a more functional housing market.

Beyond exhibitions, the event will feature workshops and discussions focused on climate resilience, cost-cutting construction methods, and opportunities for low- and middle-income earners to own homes. Sponsors and government representatives are encouraging the public to take part, calling it a timely opportunity to explore practical solutions to Uganda’s housing crisis.
