Ugandan farmers embrace smart agriculture to void presidential task “EKIDHA KYONKA”

Uganda is not only vying change politically morality or socially but even economic development, focusing on agriculture, Uganda is set to change its agricultural practices from traditional farming to modern smart farming.

In modern smart farming borrowing a leaf from mordan countries like China, the traditional hoes are being phased out being replaced with E-machines. According to the Executive Director of Prince Kimbugwe Foundation Prince Edward Kimbugwe, with smart agriculture more yields and harvests are realized on a very small piece of land citing one Hector where a farmer can harvest.. tonnes of maize and reap.. million of shillings unlike before.

He says that with smart agriculture at Prince Kimbugwa Foundation at Kabunyata Matembe in Luwero District less energy is applied. He says that several activities can be practiced on the same land citing bee keeping, poultry, mushrooms growing among other activities yet they all add to the farmers income.

Some of the benificiaries of Prince Kimbugwe Foundation … narrates how smart farming can ease life while realizing great yields. She says, that E- smart farming at Prince Kimbugwe Foundation includes application of electric and fuel pumped machines which can plow, saw, weed and harvest in a short time she gives testimony for what she has learnt.

Prince Kimbugwe says that the application of smart agriculture will only be fruitful by practicing value addition. Kimbugwe says that the institute has over 300 bee hives, while as bee keeping is meant to harvest honey, at this institution a lot of benefits are realize as he narrates.
