KAMPALA. Muslims in Uganda are mourning the passing of Dr Abdallah Omar Abdallah ,a Saudi Arabia renowned scholar
Dr. Naseef was former Secretary General of the Muslim World League (MWL), an international charitable organization based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
On his own behalf and that of the National Management Committee, the Mufti of Uganda His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Mubajje, expressed profound condolences to the immediate family of Dr. Naseef, the Government of Saudi Arabia, and the Muslim World League, following the sad news of his passing.
According to a media release from the Office of the Mufti, Sheik Mubajje recalled the late Dr. Naseef’s tremendous efforts and unwavering support for the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) during the 1980s and 1990s.
“At that time, the UMSC had just emerged from dire circumstances following the 1979 war, which left deep scars on the Muslim community, with widespread destruction of property and lives. Many children were orphaned, and the community faced the daunting task of resolving leadership disputes between the late Sheikh Kassim Mubumba and Sheikh Abdul Obeid Kamulegeya,” the Mufti noted.
Sheikh Mubajje also highlighted how the late Dr. Naseef embodied the Islamic spirit of brotherhood, visiting Uganda multiple times to promote peace, unity, and relief initiatives for the Muslim community. His legacy includes the construction of schools and mosques, provision of scholarships, support for Islamic propagation, and the installation of boreholes to provide safe water, among many other contributions. The Mufti concluded with supplications, praying to Almighty Allah to receive the departed soul of Dr. Naseef, bless him, and grant him divine grace.
In line with this, the Office of Religious Affairs has been directed to organise special prayers for the late Dr. Naseef shortly after the obligatory afternoon prayers at the National Mosque, UMSC Headquarters, on Monday, October 13, 2025.
