UMSC mourns Sheikh Maulana Salim Ssebaggala

KAMPALA.The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has announced the passing of Sheikh Maulana Salim Ssebaggala, an educationist and longtime servant of the Muslim community.

His Eminence Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubajje, the Mufti of Uganda, on his own behalf and that of the entire UMSC fraternity, has conveyed condolences to the immediate family of the late Sheikh Ssebaggala, who served as UMSC Secretary for Education from the mid-1980s to the 1990s.

“During his time many students were sent on scholarships to study in various Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sudan and Pakistan. And he is still remembered as being in the first category of Sheikhs who were well trained in the computer skills and was very instrumental in the curriculum development of Islamic studies and Arabic language for schools during his era.”

The Mufti prayed for the departed soul of Sheikh Ssebaggala and implored his family to remain patient and continue offering fervent supplications for him as he returns to his Creator.

The late Sheikh Maulana Salim Ssebaggala was a resident of Kawempe. He passed away on Sunday.
