The Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI), in collaboration with Uganda Airlines, is pleased to invite members to travel to London for the launch of the airline’s new route and the upcoming Uganda-UK Trade and Business Forum, scheduled for May 18, 2025. This pivotal event is designed to showcase Uganda’s investment opportunities and strengthen business ties between Uganda and the United Kingdom.

As part of a broader marketing initiative to promote Uganda as a prime destination for investment, Uganda Airlines will host the Trade and Business Forum in London. The forum’s goal is to highlight Uganda’s investment potential, attract prospective investors, and foster joint partnerships between Uganda and the UK. Additionally, it will provide an excellent platform for networking, sharing trade opportunities, and exploring strategies to position Uganda’s products in the UK market. Keynote speeches, panel discussions, and presentations will cover critical topics such as business, trade, export opportunities, and tourism.

The UNNCI Acting Secretary General Pheona Nabasa said the forum will focus on key sectors, including exporters, importers, tourism professionals, investors, entrepreneurs, and the diaspora business community. This event presents a unique opportunity for UNCCI members to establish valuable connections and explore new business avenues.

“As a member of UNCCI, you are invited to take advantage of a special promotional return fare to London. Uganda Airlines is offering economy class tickets for just USD 650 and premium economy for USD 1,091. All interested members are encouraged to express their interest by Friday to secure their spot for this exceptional opportunity” said Nabasa.

The partnership between Uganda National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Uganda Airlines was further solidified during a recent meeting at the UNCCI Secretariat, where UNCCI officials, led by Ms. Nabasa, met with Uganda Airlines officials. The discussions centered on building stronger partnerships and advancing the objectives of both organizations, with a particular focus on ensuring the success of the Uganda-UK Trade and Business Forum. Fiona and her team’s leadership were recognized as key drivers of the productive dialogue and the preparation of UNCCI members for the growing business opportunities.

Uganda Airlines, re-established in 2018, began operations in 2019 with just two aircraft. Since then, it has expanded its fleet to six planes, serving nearly 20 destinations globally, including Bujumbura, Dar es Salaam, Dubai, Johannesburg, Juba, Kilimanjaro, Kinshasa, Lagos, Mogadishu, Mombasa, Mumbai, Nairobi, Zanzibar, Lusaka, Abuja, Harare, and now London. The airline has already secured over 500 bookings for its new London Gatwick route, set to begin on May 18, with flights operating four times a week between Entebbe International Airport and London Gatwick.

CEO Jennifer Bamuturaki stated that bookings for the route have been confirmed through December 2025, with some extending into 2026. “Since the announcement of the route, we’ve secured over 500 bookings. London is a well-established market, and we are seeing strong demand from Europe. Many of these bookings are for return flights from London to Entebbe, with a significant portion already paid for via credit cards,” she shared in an interview with thenewzZone.com.

With the support of UNCCI and the continued success of Uganda Airlines, this new route and business forum offer an exciting opportunity to drive Uganda’s economic growth and strengthen international business relationships. We encourage all UNCCI members to register and take full advantage of this transformative event.
