Vivo Energy Uganda Puts Two Shell Fuel Stations in Kampala Up for Sale

By Johannah Nantongo
Vivo Energy Uganda has announced plans to sell two of its Shell-branded fuel stations located in the heart of Kampala, creating an opportunity for investors to acquire prime commercial property within the city’s central business district.

The company, which distributes Shell fuels and lubricants in Uganda, said the service stations at Shell Clock Tower and Shell South Street will be sold through a sealed-bid process. Both properties are being offered on an “as is, where is” basis.

According to the company, interested bidders are required to submit formal expressions of interest along with a financial commitment. Each bid must be accompanied by a five percent commitment fee presented as a 30-day bank guarantee. All offers must also be submitted exclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT).

Vivo Energy Uganda has set March 30, 2026 as the deadline for submission of bids. The proposals are to be delivered to the company’s offices located in the Industrial Area in Kampala.

The management noted that it retains the right to accept or decline any bid received. Prospective buyers will also be allowed to inspect the properties, but only through scheduled appointments.

The Shell Clock Tower station sits on approximately 0.26 acres of leasehold land at the junction of Entebbe Road, a major route linking the city centre to the airport and surrounding suburbs.

Meanwhile, the Shell South Street property occupies about 0.247 acres of freehold land located close to Old Taxi Park, one of the busiest transport and commercial hubs in the country.

Although both locations currently operate as fuel stations with infrastructure such as underground fuel tanks, pumps and service bays, the company indicated that the properties also hold strong potential for broader commercial redevelopment due to their strategic locations.
