Woman linked to Dr Spire Kiggundu’s death arrested in Kampala

KAMPALA.

The Kampala Metropolitan police have arrested a woman who was seen walking out of a lodge where Dr. John Bosco Spire Kiggundu was found dead on June 21.
Dr Kiggundu , the director and proprietor of Henrob Hospital in Zzana ,on the outskirts of Kampala City was found dead inside a room at Dream Guest House in Lubowa, along Entebbe Road.

He was an elder brother of Makerere University don , cartoonist and political commentator Dr Jim Spire Ssentongo
According to Mr Patrick Onyango , the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson the suspect in their custody is Eva Mbabazi, who is believed to be in her early 20s.


Mbabazi’s arrest comes days after several social media users named her as having been with the prominent medical practitioner shortly before his mysterious death.
According to police investigations, Dr. Kiggundu checked into the guest house at around 5:45 PM on June 21, 2025. His lifeless body was found in the same room but his family got the information the following day June 22 .


“CCTV footage shows the suspect leaving the room that had earlier been booked by the deceased,” Onyango said.
“We have recorded her statement, and a general inquiry file has been submitted to the state attorney for further guidance.”


A postmortem report pathologists released moments after Dr. Kiggundu’s death revealed that he died of a heart attack. The deceased was the President of the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Uganda (ALSU) .He was buried on June 25 at his ancestral home in Butozi Village ,Kalisizo ,Kyotera District .
