The management of Case Hospital has terminated the services of a senior surgeon Dr Deo Lukyamuzi Kizito after declaring his intention to contest for President in next year’s General Elections .
In a letter signed by Chief Operating Officer Case Medical Services, Mr Ronald Akankwasa, the hospital said it was necessary to disengage Dr Kizito in order to preserve neutrality.
“Following a meeting you had with our CEO regarding your decision to contest for the position of President, it is essential for Case Hospital to uphold its commitment to professionalism and maintain strict neutrality, avoiding any association with political affiliations or activities,” the letter reads in part .
“In adherence to this principle, we regret to inform you that we have disengaged you from your current position at the hospital effective immediately.
“We note your contributions and would like to express our sincere gratitude to you for the many years of dedicated service you have rendered to Case Hospital.”
Dr Kizito, who also works with St.Francis Hospital ,Nsambya is no stranger to political ambition. In 2011, he contested for the Masaka mayoral seat and also stood for Kakuuto County Parliamentary seat in the same year, losing to the late Mathias Kasamba.
A decade later, in 2021, he picked presidential nomination forms, but did not contest. As Dr Kizito insists on pursuing his political ambition , it remains to be seen how he will perform in an already clouded presidential race where at least 12 aspirants have already returned nomination forms to the Electoral Commission and over 100 are still collecting voters signatures ahead of nomination which kicks off on September 23 .
