KABALE. At least 69 passengers aboard a Gateway Bus survived death after the bus crashed along the Mbarara-Kabale Highway.
The incident involved bus registration number UBE 977S and occurred at Kabaraga at around 2:00am on Friday, June 6, 2026.
Territorial Police at Kabale Central Police Station said traffic officers responded promptly and secured the scene following the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate that the crash was caused by reckless driving, according to Kigezi Sub-region police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime.
“We encourage our bus drivers to always be mindful of the lives of passengers on board. They should ensure they have enough rest to avoid fatigue and should not drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol,” Tumushime said.
Police did not immediately confirm whether there were any injuries, though the incident has been classified as minor.
