
A US-based Backroads Philanthropy has partnered with Young Engineers Uganda to provide robotics and coding training to students to help to boost STEM education in Uganda.
The partnership aims to equip students with cutting-edge tech skills, preparing them for the digital workforce. Catherine Wills, head of Backroads Philanthropy, visited Young Engineers Uganda’s offices to support the Soroti Municipal SS Team’s preparation for the 2025 Vex Championship.
The Soroti team, comprising students from remote villages, has been working tirelessly to design and build robots for the competition using coding languages like Python and C++.Backroads Philanthropy’s support will enable Young Engineers Uganda to expand its STEM education programs, reaching more students in rural areas and promoting digital inclusion.
The partnership demonstrates the potential of tech-based collaborations to drive STEM education and economic growth in Africa.
