MITYANA. A total of 3,984 special election constables recruited in Wamala Region to reinforce the police in the Region before during after the upcoming General Election on a contract of three months are yet to commence training.
Of the 3984 election constables , 974 are from Mityana District , Kassanda District ( 760), Kyankwanzi District ( 676) , Kiboga District ( 458) and Mubende District ( 1,116).
According to Mr Lameck Kigozi , the Wamala Regional Police spokesperson , recruit special election constables are going to be trained in three training centers within Wamala Region for a period of 1 month . The training centers are, Naama SS Mityana, for recruits from Mityana and Kassanda, Butemba College SS in Kyankwanzi for recruits from the districts of Kiboga and Kyankwanzi and Kasenyi Primary School in Mubende for recruits in Mubende District.
“ The training is scheduled to begin on Monday 8/12/2025.Recruits are advised to carry the following personal effects including a small mattress ,bathing utilities (bucket or basin, spongy, soap, tooth paste and tooth brush), Feeding utensils (plate, cup, small bucket),canvas shoes and physical fitness clothing like sports shorts and t-shirts or tracksuits, trimmed hair for ladies, sanitary utilities, toilet papers, pads and those deemed necessary,” he said ,adding “Recruits are advised not carry unnecessary luggage due to expected congestion in the training centers.”
