
NGORA. Lawrence Ampe, a maverick youthful prison officer, who was sacked by Prison Authorities for criticising the government on TikTok,has joined the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP).
Ampe who was attached to Ngora government Prison, has been consistent in accusing senior government officials of corruption, human rights abuses and mistreatment of lower-ranking prison officers .

To show his support for NUP, Ampe has appeared on NUP presidential flag bearer Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine ’s campaign trail in Ngora District on Saturday to the excitement of party supporters .
Speaking about Ampe , Bobi Wine , Ampe was a victim of frank talk to the powers that be , and praised him for his braveness .
“ He[Ampe] is not alone . There is also a judge called Esther Kitimbo Kisaakye , she is in exile for speaking the true ,” she said
“ Thank you very much for your patriotism , I want you to know that Uganda will be free .” he added

On his X handle, Ampe said he had officially handed over government stores to Uganda Prison authorities through officer in charge of Ngora Prison.
“ As usual, I haven’t received any documents to witness handover .Of course, I wasn’t supplied since I worked with Akitui Jane Roseline OC Ngora and I know her every well .But at least I have secured audio recording and some photos,” he posted .
