Centenary Bank support Muslim during Ramadhan

Centenary Group has hosted members of Uganda’s Muslim community to its annual Iftar dinners across multiple regions, celebrating faith, unity, and shared prosperity during the holy month of Ramadhan.

The dinners bring together religious leaders, scholars, business leaders, and partners, continuing a 13-year tradition of Centenary Group engaging with and supporting the Muslim community nationwide.

The celebrations have reached cities and districts including Kampala, Mbale, Wakiso, Luwero, Arua, Mbarara, Hoima, Bwera, Kasese, Fort Portal, Kyegegwa, Masindi, Gulu, Lira, Apac, Koboko, Yumbe, Adjumani, Soroti, Pallisa, Tororo, Busia, Jinja, Iganga, Kayunga, Nagalama, Mukono, Mityana, Lyantonde, Paidha, and Nebbi.

This year, events were held in Mbarara, Masindi, Moyo, Obongi, Iganga, Kayunga, Nagalama, Mukono, as well as at educational and religious institutions including Mende Kalema Foundation in Wakiso, Kagungube Muslim SS in Mityana, Kakungulu Memorial SS in Butambala, and Kibuli Muslim Headquarters.

Speaking at the Iftar dinner at Hotel Africana, Dr. Grace Ssekakubo, CEO of Centenary Technology Services, highlighted the Group’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.

“At Centenary Group and our subsidiaries—including Centenary Bank, Centenary Technologies, Centenary Foundation, Centenary Property Development and Management, and Centenary Bank Malawi—our core purpose is to transform lives and drive development through inclusive and innovative financial and business solutions,” Dr. Ssekakubo said.

He added that Centenary Group dedicates up to 2% of its previous year’s profits to Corporate Social Responsibility, investing in health, education, environmental stewardship, religious projects, and community initiatives.

Over the years, Centenary Group has partnered with the Muslim community in meaningful ways, hosting Iftar dinners, donating food packages and essential supplies to mosques and vulnerable families, and supporting religious leadership programs.

Dr. Ssekakubo emphasized that the Group also supports education, funding Muslim-founded schools, contributing to infrastructure development, and promoting financial inclusion for students and teachers.

“Through our SME and microfinance programs, we empower Muslim entrepreneurs across trade, agriculture, transport, and manufacturing, driving enterprise growth and job creation,” he added.

The event was graced by Supreme Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzi, who commended Centenary Group for its consistent support.

“We appreciate Centenary Group for walking with the Muslim community not only during Ramadhan but throughout the year. Their commitment to financial inclusion, education, and community support reflects the true spirit of partnership and shared responsibility in nation-building,” the Supreme Mufti said.
