LUWEERO.

At least 20 people have perished in motor crashes along Kampala-Gulu highway in the last 22 days with the latest victims being a mother and her child.

This came after a trailer broke loose from a moving truck veered off the Gulu–Kampala Highway and rammed into a building in Luweero on Sunday morning , killing a mother and her three-year-old daughter and leaving two others injured.

The crash occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. in Ngogolo when a Mercedes-Benz truck, registration numbers SSD 908A and SSD 909A, lost control after its rear trailer detached while in motion.

The truck had been traveling from Gulu toward Kampala.

According to preliminary police findings, the detached trailer veered off the road and crashed into a nearby building, resulting in the fatal incident.

The victims have been identified as 38-year-old Annet Nandyose and her three-year-old daughter, Doreen Nakkazi, who both died at the scene.

Two others, Samuel Kigwe, an adult male believed to be the father, and Jovan Kalule, a juvenile, sustained injuries and were rushed to Luweero Hospital for treatment.
