MBALE, UGANDA — A Chinese delegation has toured the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park, gaining firsthand insight into one of Uganda’s flagship industrial hubs that continues to drive economic transformation and attract foreign investment.

The delegation was warmly received by the park’s Administrative Manager, Laurent Zhang, who emphasized Uganda’s investor-friendly environment and growing industrial potential. He encouraged members of the delegation to explore opportunities within the country, describing Uganda as a viable and promising destination for investment.

“Uganda offers a conducive environment for industrial growth, supported by government commitment and strategic partnerships,” Zhang noted, pointing to the park as a model of successful collaboration between Uganda and China.

Uganda’s Ambassador to China, Oliver Wonekha, who accompanied the delegation, highlighted the deepening ties between the two nations. She described China as a strategic development partner whose contributions have significantly shaped Uganda’s infrastructure and industrial landscape.

Ambassador Wonekha underscored the impact of joint initiatives, including the establishment of industrial parks and expansion of road networks, which have improved connectivity and enhanced trade. She singled out the Mbale Industrial Park as a key driver of local economic growth, noting that it has created over 13,000 jobs for Ugandans and stimulated business activity in the region.

“The partnership between Uganda and China continues to yield tangible results for our people. The Mbale Industrial Park stands as a testament to what can be achieved through sustained collaboration,” she said.

She called for continued cooperation between the two countries, urging investors to build on existing momentum and support Uganda’s broader development agenda.

The visit forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen economic diplomacy and promote Uganda as a competitive investment destination in East Africa, with the Mbale Industrial Park increasingly positioning itself as a hub for manufacturing, employment creation, and industrial innovation.
