The State Minister of Finance for Privatization and Investment, Hon. Evelyn Anite, today hosted a delegation of Chinese investors led by Mr. Paul Zhang, a prominent industrial developer behind several projects in Uganda, including the Tian-Tang Industrial Park in Mbale.
Mr. Zhang has played a key role in attracting foreign manufacturers—particularly from China—into Uganda’s industrial parks. These investments span sectors such as electronics, household goods, and manufacturing, contributing to the country’s growing industrial base.
While meeting the delegation, Hon. Anite commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for his continued efforts to promote investment and industrialization. She revealed that, in recognition of Mr. Zhang’s contribution to Uganda’s economic development, the President has offered over 1,200 acres of land in Lusenke, Kayunga District, to support the expansion of industrial activities.

“Our focus is not only on envisioning a $500 billion economy but on taking concrete steps to achieve it,” she said. “We are prioritizing investments that will drive transformation and create meaningful opportunities for Ugandans.”
The Minister highlighted upcoming projects expected to take shape in the area, including a solar power plant and a chemical manufacturing facility. These initiatives are projected to generate more than 200,000 jobs in the coming years, particularly benefiting young professionals and skilled graduates.
She also emphasized key government priorities such as agro-industrialization, tourism development, mineral-based industries, and advancements in science and technology—sectors seen as critical for value addition, employment, and export growth.
Lusenke’s location near a hydropower source was noted as a strategic advantage, ensuring reliable electricity for industries. Plans are also underway to develop a fully integrated industrial hub, complete with essential social services like schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial centers to support workers and their families.
In closing, Hon. Anite urged Ugandans to support both local and international investors, acknowledging their role in driving economic progress.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting delegation, Mr. Lu Wei, Deputy General Manager of Shenzhen Mingyang Technology Company, expressed interest in establishing operations in Uganda. He noted that the company specializes in battery storage solutions and aims to provide stable energy systems for factories and industrial operations.
