Police in Mukono District are holding four suspects in connection with the brutal killing of a radiography specialist.
Peter Mubiru who was attached to Happy Doctors Hospital in Seeta in Mukono Municipality was hit with a blunt object by suspected robbers on April 19, 2026 in Mukono Municipality.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire has confirmed the arrest of four suspects to help with investigations into his murder.
“We have so far arrested four suspects in connection with the murder and investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the attack. Efforts to try and identify other individuals who may have been involved are ongoing,” he said.
The suspects have been identified as Abubaker Mususwa, Joshua Olowo, George Muyanja, and Umar Basibu.
The police revealed that the investigators are gathering additional evidence that include forensic analysis and the post-mortem report, to strengthen the case ahead of prosecution of the suspects.
The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to face charges of murder and aggravated robbery upon completion of investigations, Mr Owoyesire said.
The brutal killing of the medical worker sparked rage among residents in Mukono Municipality, with several residents raising concern about the increasing cases of criminality linked to criminal gangs taking advantage of people walking in isolated areas.
Preliminary reports revealed that the assailants, who were riding on a motorcycle, attacked Mubiru in Bagala Zone, Goma Division, Mukono Municipality, at around 7pm.
He was struck on the head with a paver that left him with fatal head injuries. He was rushed to Mulago National Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition but succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack.
