The Special Envoy to the President of Qatar and Sudanese Ambassador, Sheikh Dr. Yahaya Ssemuddu, has appealed to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to allocate more leadership positions to Muslims during his new term in office.
Sheikh Dr. Yahaya Ssemuddu made the remarks while delivering his Khutbah sermon during Eid Mubarak prayers at Yusuf Bakuuba Mosque in Kisaasi, Kampala.
He noted that Eid is a special day that encourages believers to give generously, make sacrifices, and avoid being selfish. He also appreciated President Museveni for appointing several Muslims to Cabinet positions, but urged him to consider more Muslims for leadership appointments in government.
The Chairman of Masjid Yusuf Bakuuba, Hajji Hon. Latif Ssebagala, called upon the newly sworn-in leaders to desist from corruption and instead focus on effective service delivery to Ugandans.
He also rallied Muslims and well-wishers to support the ongoing restructuring and modernization of Masjid Yusuf Bakuuba.
In celebration of Eid Mubarak, Dr. Ambassador Sheikh Yahaya Ssemuddu hosted several Muslims at his residence, where he slaughtered over 100 goats and cows for donation to the faithful and vulnerable communities.
